The City Attorney's office provides legal counsel to the Mayor, City Council, City Clerk, operating departments, and boards and commissions. The City Prosecutor is responsible for prosecuting cases in Municipal Court in which the City Judge presides.   Other legal services include the following: monitoring risk exposures and recommending policies and procedures accordingly, retaining outside counsel when needed, verifying property titles and ownership, conducting contract negotiations, reviewing draft ordinances and resolutions, interpreting code enforcement issues, and responding to citizen inquiries and complaints. Municipal court is held at 2:00 pm, the last Wednesday of every month at the Crenshaw County Courthouse.
